Arts Inside Out returns for 2022 - 2nd Annual
Books, Brushes, and Bands for Education hosted Arts Inside Out for a second year at Harrison Park July 23. The summer festival highlighted each wing of BBB4E with free books, community art projects, live music performances, and other educational vendors.
The Midwest Youth Choir performed at the event after seven weeks of classes at the Hammond Public Library. The summer’s choir brought together 19 students under the direction of Brian Johnson. DJ Flexx kept up the energy while local performers Jose Martin and the Societal Norm rock group had sets throughout the day.
The Book Brigade free book stop distributed over 1,700 books to guests attending the books and art festival. This distribution included books suitable for all audiences from board books to novels. Currently, we are working to distribute our entire stock of adult books. Contact hello@bbb4e.org if you are interested in scheduling a visit to our office to take books. The Hammond Public Library also signed attendants up for library cards so that they could become life long readers.
A number of colleges were in attendance including South Suburban College, St. Joseph’s Calumet College, and Purdue University Northwest. The college representatives talked to students and families and gave away swag to help protect from the rain earlier in the day. The Hammond Tri Kappa group was also in attandence providing snacks and water.
