Student Spotlight: AnaCarolina Lopez
For AnaCarolina Lopez, BBB4E is family. She grew up sitting in the back of band practice listening to her older brother rehearse. When BBB4E expanded to Orchestra, Ana Carolina didn’t have to think long before joining.
“I just remember everybody being really close to each other. [The instructor] didn’t only connect with the students but they connected with the families,” AnaCarolina said.
“BBB4E helped me get out of my shell,” AnaCarolina said. “Joining the orchestra helped me learn how to play with others not only my section but piano and wind instruments. That made me expand not only knowledge but my talents as a musician.”
Outside of BBB4E she has played with mariachi groups but The Midwest Youth Orchestra offered AnaCarolina the opportunity to continue playing in a larger community of musicians. She has not only developed her playing ability but is now also a mentor for students in the MYO.
In some ways, AnaCarolina’s violin is her best friend, she says it has been there for her good days and her bad days.
“Music helped me grow and shaped me as a person,” AnaCarolina said. “It’s kind of my outlet, it's something that is life changing and you will never go backwards from learning music.”
